    Medicare part B Ins. Prem.

Can a self employed person deduct the Part B ins. prem. on page 1 of the 1040?
Realize this has been discussed before, however, my brain is getting old and
solidified, so am having trouble remembering things.
Your help in this is greatly appreciated.
This client also has a supplement policy and these premiums are deductible on page 1, form 1040.

Not only has this been discussed before, but you are the one who asked the exact same question.

Bird, does this make you laugh or cry or both? Could have been me. Happy New Year.

          Gabriele, I really

appreciate your post. Very appropriate. This has not been a good past 10 days for me.
Wife fell about 4 days before Christmas. Hurt her leg. Has been on
pain pills since. Going to get some lab work done in the AM.
Son was in a car wreck. The day after Christmas, he received results of MRI.
Has ruptured disk. Will need surgery. Christmas day I was backing the car
out of the garage to go to store and backed into the daughters car.
Was getting some things out of refrigerator for Christmas dinner and dropped a cake the wife had made. There were about 20 people over for dinner. Maybe I need to retire to an old folks home.

Now I really want to cry. You are in my prayers. Maybe going very slow and concentrating on what is really important will help to not to get crazy.

              >>Maybe I need to retire to an old folks home<<

No way Bird legs, you provide to good of much info here to be at that stage. Plus Old folks homes are not the best place to find new clients . they are typically are not what you would call long term.

Keep your head up , hopefully 2007 will be better for ya.

                  Thanks

                  for everyones'moral support.
After the 2007 tax season, in about July, will be moving my practice from the office
to home. Any practical, useful, suggestions?
Will be advising my clients of this move during the tax season.

I've had a home office for 27 years.

Biggest problem is most people, including family, think you don't really work and you can take care of everything for them while you are sitting around doing nothing.

Set working hours and keep them.

Best thing is I get to wear my house shoes all day!!

If I put on real shoes, everyone wants to know where I am planning on going.

                      Question-wv112

Do you have any clients that are a somewhat hesitant in coming to your house for
                      their taxes?
Larry M. gave me some suggestions that I will use.
I do have 2 house dogs, small, that are overly friendly and love to be petted.
Will have to figure out what to do about that.
Did have my office in home for a couple of years back in the mid 70s'.
When finally I rented an office, several clients mentioned that they were more
comfortable coming to the office. We sat around the table in the kitchen while at
                      home.

We sat around the table in the kitchen ....

... is where the problem is. You will need to have professional atmosphere or you will loose clients.

                          Bird Legs, since

you and I are almost the same age, I can't remember if I told you I have 2 cats. The problem is 1 client does not like cats. I put a note in her file folder so just a few minutes before she arrives, I put the cats in another room and shut the door. Another problem is some clients bring their children. The children want to "play" with the cats. My cats don't like children since my grandson and friends chased the cats when they were small. (about 10 years ago). So you have to be tolerant with children while they seem to think they have run of your house. And at our age, tolerant, does not come as easy as it did many decades ago and neither does memory work that great anymore. So, ...

                            Gracios, Larry

for reminding me of this. Several years ago, I was visiting in a nursing home.
A resident came up and started talking. One thing she said was,"yes, and
my forgetterer is better than my rememberer."
