    Quickbooks W2 Processing

    Hello,

I've got some seasonal companies and I want to get the W2s done.

The dunderhead at Quickbooks said the W2 for 2006 has not yet been released. Any chance this is true? My product does not sunset for another year.

The 2006 W-2s have been out for almost a year now.

Its the 2007 W-2s that are not out yet, but will be shortly.

        Question

Are you printing them on plain paper or the red & black blank forms?

Aren't you afraid that they will call next week wanting year-end bonuses for someone?

                Quickbooks and W2s

Let me ask this another way.

Is anbody having Quickbooks print off 2006 w2s on blank paper at this time? I'm up to date with my QB payroll license. I know the IRS has released the forms, I'm just frustrated that Quickbooks does not seem, at first glance, to be able to print the 2006 w2s at this time.

I am able to print them. I have upgraded all my clients to QuickBooks 2007 version though. But I believe as long as you have the latest payroll update you should be able to print. The last payroll update I got allows for printing of 944 form and 2006 W-2s.

What version of QuickBooks are you using?

                    Quickbooks W2

They must have just released the Quickbooks w2s.

In order to print them click on Employees then click get updates.

FYI We use Quickbooks 2004 and it is time to update after this tax season.

Do you just use regular 8 1/2 x 11 or is there some kind of "special" plain paper? I would love to be able to get in on this.

                        Perforated paper

Q.books comments that w-2's should be on perforated paper. Is this correct, or will
                        plain unperforated paper be accepted?

                          Plain Paper- 8 1/2 X 11

I use plain paper for W-3, 941, 940, State reports and preforated for the employee W-2. The preforated W-2 has instructions on the back for the employee's copy, which I believe is required. BUT, when I run out of preforated sheets I just print them on blank paper. I print 4 ups so it is one sheet per employee, which ends up with 4 squares on a sheet.

                            A second thought..

...., for clairification >You need to be able to print the whole form, not just the fill-in numbers. They are called Laser Fonts. My program allows me to print either way (fill-in on preprinted forms or laser forms with fill-in on blank paper)
