What software are you using and what is your opinion on the best software for a small practice with mainly 1040 clients.

Unfortunately, the topic has been discussed in length. It is a matter of opinion and what your own specific needs of software are, as to what is the "BEST".
I would go to google and search for Professional Tax Software which will list many of the websites. Go to each one and request a demo. Use the next month or two trying them out and then decide which might work the best for you.

How Small?
How small. ATX is becoming very popular for very small practice with mainly simply returns. If you have a bigger budget, I have had a very positive experience overall with Lacerte. Lacerte's web sight has the AICPA survey on tax software. (LSCsoft.com)Comment
