    What advantage would a HSA be to a self employed.

    Same advantage as for anyone else... you get to deduct all the medical expenses comprising the deductibles, copays, etc., which are less than the 7.5% limit on sched A. or, you get to accumulate another type of retirement savings account, with tax-free distributions if paid to reimburse medicl costs. or, a combination of the 2. -RJM

      You also cut your health insurance costs drastically by going with a high deductible health insurance plan.
