I approached the client honestly: told them where I was at with the billing and where I expected to end up. I didn't say why (and they didn't ask). I put it in an email first so that they would have a chance to discuss it and decide their position internally before talking with me.
I got a call today. We agreed to split the difference...that means I got a 50% bump. Weeeeeeeeeee!
Thank you to everyone who gave me GREAT advice! What's particularly cool is, in formulating my strategy, I took bits and pieces of everyone's advice and conformed it to the situation at hand.
So here's to my virtual Board of Advisors! (Picture me raising the celebratory glass)
