boiler-plate proposal
>>OIC Software<<
I have a wonderful program I use for Offers in Compromise. It's called Microsoft Word.
The only standard part of an OIC is form 433A or B. The national standards calculations are so absurdly low they can't be used without personal tweaking. The write-up is likewise too individual.
I mean, suppose you were the IRS agent processing an OIC. How would you react to a boiler-plate proposal?

Fees for preparing OIC
To those who prepare OIC's:
Do you charge for each hour, or fraction thereof, incurred in the preparation, or do you have a flat rate that you start with, and then tweek that based on expected issues?
I am working on one case that has been an ongoing issue. We had to prepare 6 prior years and have been going around hoops for the RO assigned to the case. Now, we're scheduled to go to an appeals hearing next month and are seriously looking at an OIC after the hearing. My question is, should I continue to bill client at the hourly rate I've been using, or come up with an estimate for just the OIC, and get that up front?
Payment is not an issue, as invoices alwasy get paid within a week, so I've not been charging a retianer on this one.
