    Koss & Vowles

Anybody seen or heard anything of or from Burton Koss (from the old board) lately? I kind of miss him. Now there was a guy that was (almost) as smart as our Bees and Armando (no offense, guys). A bit wordy perhaps, but, shoot, who am I (pot to kettle) to complain about that?

Also John Vowles. He started showing up so regularly on QF after Bees and Armando left that I thought he was hired as their new taxmeister. Very knowledgeable person and well-schooled in just about everything taxing which might be brought up by the curious and/or the uninformed, the misinformed, or the ill-informed. Knew all about taxes in Singapore and spoke fluent Bongo-Bongoian. Can't think of anything negative to say about him except, of course, that he was from, well...you know, up there--New Hampshire, I think he said (Snag was right--Southern boys have come a long way--I am fully cognizant of the fact that that's a state and not a fresh-bought pig).

John sent me his new email address about a year ago. We corresponded several time during that time. I have not heard from him for about a year. He had some changes going on but nothing drastic. If you want his new e-mail address I'll forward on to you, let me know.

I will send him an email and let him know you were asking about him and give him this site's URL. Maybe he will jump in to say hello.

        Strange you should mention them

Sandy and I were just talking about these two gentleman late last night on the phone and how we missed their presence.

We both enjoyed them posting and giving all of us such good advice.
Hope they can find this board and return.

          Mr. John Vowles

I was in touch with Mr. John Vowles this past week. He is doing very well. Other personal committments has limited his time available for his tax work and thus the message boards. Yes he's a find man who put much time into the message board. I miss his contributions very much.

            Burton Koss and John Vowles

It seems if my memory serves me correctly after participating in the QF Board for several years that Burton Koss magically appears about the time that tax season begins around mid-January and then magically disappears about the time that tax season ends, around April 15th or soon thereafter. Seemed like any question you might, Burton Koss could answer, and also provide you with the reference.

Do you suppose he is one of our Tax Info Guardian Angels!

John Vowles seemed new to me on the QF board this last season, but participated with some outstanding information. Hopefully we will see his participation again soon.

I am sure we are all looking forward to both of them finding their way to The Tax Book forum.

              Koss, Vowles & Sova

Got to thinking today, we are also missing Matt Sova. Anyone heard from him??? Found some printoffs on Corps, that is what made me think of him.

                Old hands & old times

Nope, don't know what became of him. Snag thinks he was eaten alive by his doppelganger ego.

                Others:
                Ricardo ( a good egg)
Noel Baldwin (to whom I advised that he advise fertility drugs to his client to avoid
losing the $250K exclusion [maybe he married her]
                Bubba ( championed-I think-the execution of all non-EA tax preparers. Name's a
misnomer-could NOT have been from the non-credentialed South with
                that attitude)
David Levine (was it him or Dave W. who was the ex-IRS agent? Good info
on the workings of the "enemy")
Len Boush (able champion of Chauncey Hutter)
Anonymous (gosh, the enormous number of posts he put out)
Bob little w. and Bob big W. (don't remember what their thing was)
Jimmy Greengrass ("green be the turf o'er thee, friend of my better days; none
knew thee but to love thee, nor named thee but to praise)

Still tryin' to think of other deceased contributors.

                  Others

CD / Theresa / JG (maybe that's J. Greenglass) / Ed Smith / CHAT ROOM (the dirty low-down inexcrupulous rat who complained that I posted off-subject [how'd he come up with that notion?]) / Lady EA (who told Bubba he was a "ray of sunshine." Ah'm still upset about that) / Blanco Bart (outstanding poster).

That's all I can think of for the moment. Feel free to chime in with contributions.

                    Sova

Matt Sova may be one of those folks that is sticking with the QF - he strikes me as one who will not economically venture into the unknown (unless its for beer or bikes). Outstanding knowledge and quite helpful, really. Either very blatant or very honest about his expertise, take your pick.

I have invited him to the board - I hope he'll come by the time tax season starts. I miss his huge expertise and non-pretentious ego. A good guy when you get to know him.

                      Missing

Let's see, JG has posted, and so has Ed Smith, Mary Carlson I haven't seen either for a while, I think CD has posted and so has Natiro and Abby. Maybe some of the people were just fortunate that they were able to take the summer off!

Black Bart - old hands, etc.

I am still around, mostly reading both boards and trying to absorb the always excellent advise posted.

                        Regards - - Ricardo

I ask about you on the other board and was told either by Snag or Billy O don't remember which, that you had gone to the woods and a black bear got you.Thought for a long time that you had gone to your great tax office in the sky. I didn't know about this board until in Aug when someone on the other board mentioned a new board.Could it be that not all people know about this board yet.I have noticed it gets mentioned more on the other board now.

[QUOTE= .Could it be that not all people know about this board yet.I have noticed it gets mentioned more on the other board now.[/QUOTE]

Yeah, I think that's it. Lots of people don't know it exists. I didn't know a thing about it until Snag e-mailed me. As you say, it seems to be getting mentioned on QF more frequently than in the past as more and more people wonder where everyone went off to.
I'm sure that our editors wish more people did know, but there's really no way that they can, in good conscience, go on QF's board and say something to the effect of "hey, we're over there now."

Maybe we should all e-mail our colleagues. I've got one that says (in re: QF) he "wouldn't
start tax season without it." I'm pretty sure he doesn't know our guys have left and it's being run by others. Think I'll notify him in case he hasn't re-upped for QF yet.
