Signing into PTIN system beginning April 15, 2026

On Nov 26, 2025 I received an IRS letter stating the PTIN system will allow tax preparers with a SSN# to sign in using Login.gov in addition to ID.me. I already have been able to signing into Tax Pro for years. I did sign up to Login.gov without problems in order to avoid ID.me. However, on March 10, 2026 I received an IRS letter stating beginning April 15, 2026 the access to various IRS services requires all preparers with a SS# to sign in with ID.me to access IRS online services.

I really don't desire to sign on with ID.me. Can anyone clarify if I would be able to sign into the IRS online services with the Login.gov credentials after April 15th?

    Thanks for any responses!!
