As of yesterday, ProSeries now requires entry box of RMD amount for people over RMD age. If ignored the annoying pink error boxes pop up. Are other software providers also requiring it, or is PS just being jerky again. Bunch of malarkey.

1099R RMD entry

It's just Intuit doing their thing and/or making work more annoying once again.
I have just been putting ZERO into the required RMD box (same as you would do anyway for a pension 1099-R) and the problem goes away. The more logical approach is to check with the client to verify the appropriate RMDs were actually taken.
There are an increasing number of "I certify. . ." boxes within the software.

With UltraTax, each 1099-R (unit) has a checkbox to optionally print a RMD worksheet for that unit, along with a summary report of all units. You do not have to enter an actual amount distributed anywhere.
I am disappointed however, since Ultratax is usually pretty fully featured and debugged, that they have not yet implemented any of the SECURE 2.0 settings, so they still show amounts and informational diagnostics as if age 70.5 is the starting age."You said it, they'll never know the difference.
