    Filing Status

    Might be a stupid question, but I'll give it a try.

    Facts: Couple married in April 2024 and lived together since then. Wife and Husband don't wish to file joint.

    Question: Is there any scenario where Wife (and Husband) can file Single instead of Married Filing Joint?

    Reading from the Tax book, I would say there isn't.

    Marital status on 12/31/2024 governs.
    MFJ or MFS is their choice.
