New EIN if original LLC was assigned

    Hello Tax Community

The parents who were the partners of a LLC ( Multi member LLC) assigned the company to their son who will be the sole owner.

1-Since the LLC was just assigned to the new owner and was not dissolved, does the new owner need to apply for a new EIN? ( I know if LLC was dissolved and a new LLC then a new EIN is required)

2-Is it okay to keep the original EIN?

3- Should the new owner just complete the form 8822 (change of responsible party) and form 8832 ( change entity classification) when they file their 2024 tax return?

    Thank you in advance!

Weren't 1 & 2 were answered in your other post? Or am I misreading something?

    3) Yes and no. Form 8832 is not required.

If the Partnership ended mid-year, did the parents file an extension? If not, the 1065 is likely late.

Thanks- they were using a different accountant so the did not file an extension. The assignment was done on March 2024.
