A Nashville talk show host, E. A. (who has a call-in show for tax questions) has her show one hour every week.

She says that a new law permits a self-employed business owner to avoid claiming revenue, for up to $100,000 annually.

I couldn't believe my ears - and never heard of such a thing. I have listened to her show occasionally, and she always reports things correctly.

Either I'm losing my mind, or she is. Does anyone on this forum know what she's talking about??

Are the shows archived so listeners can stream them later? I have no idea what she may be talking about, but would like to hear the show to hear what she said.

Thank you. Tennessee has a "business tax" based on gross receipts. Last year TN Dept of Revenue had a horrendous time processing these business tax returns because they forced electronic filing, and would not accept filing without a payment, along with several other problems. The tax rate on Revenue (not profit) is extremely low, so it doesn't surprise me that the revenue base was enlarged to justify enough tax to offset the problems.

The tax E.A. on the radio was correct.
