Real Estate agency, an S-Corp, purchased a property management agreement from another agency in 2022. Total cost is $170,000; they paid $50,000 in 2022 and they will pay the balance over two years. I am not sure about the method of amortization. Is it amortized over 15 years? Is the amortization method straight line or can they use MACRS 15 years? I entered in the tax software, MACRS 15 Year Improvement and the amount of 50,000 was recorded all in 2022. I don't think this is correct? Thanks for your help.
