    Chartable Contribution

I have a client who volunteers to work with a traveling youth baseball team. His last tax preparer wrote off all traveling expenses. when I did some research on the subject it says out-of-pocket expenses for a charitable organization. Would a traveling youth baseball team be considered a charitable organization?

It also would be advisable if your client would obtain some written acknowledgement from the 501(c)(3) entity acknowledging his volunteer service and the extent of his
involvement. He can't simply be a spectator to the events - he has to participate in the organization's activities or be involved in making the events take place.
