    RV deprecation

Client bought an new RV in 2022 (Pull behind 5th wheel) Rents out via Websites? Weekends

What would be the depreciation length? If it was a building 39years. Long term Rental 27.5. Not sure how many years on an RV....

    Thanks!!

Rental of tangible personal property (i.e not real property) is reported not on Schedule E but directly on the 1040 & Schedule 1,2, or 3 as I recall. It is probably 5 years MACRS depreciation life.

But isn't an RV allowed to be considered a second home and assuming the owner used it for at least 14 days or 10% wouldn't the depreciation be similar to a regular house 29.5 years?

Also see this discussion from a few months ago along the same lines.

Client bought a used RV camper and stationed it at the storage facility they own. They do not travel with it and is has no personal use. It was purchased mainly to eliminate hotel costs when they travel for business. I came up with 39 years and no bonus depreciation which is not ideal for taxpayer as bonus would be better.
