    Form 8822 won't work

A company wants to change its name. It appears Form 8822 is appropriate only for individuals, estates, gift taxes, etc. NOT for a going entity.

Is there a form appropriate to change the name of a business?

    Thank you in advance...

An amendment to their organizational document with their state?

Form 8822-B Change of Address or Responsible Party — Business

However that form as the title states is for changing address. Not sure if the IRS has a form for changing name for tax purposes, maybe it requires a new EIN? But why not just use a DBA instead of changing the legal name?

It's explained here at the IRS web site. Apparently there is a name change checkbox on the main tax form itself.

Thank you. Looks like 8822-B is the choice.
