My customer & spouse have had incomes well above the limit, so they did not qualify for any of this credit in 2021.
They have 2 children, son age 20 and daughter age 19 at the end of 2021. Both kids were students & dependents of parents in 2020.
Son (not a student in 2021) still lives at home, is not a dependent as he earned nearly $ 30K in 2021.
My software wants to give the son the $ 1,400 credit on his 2021 return.
Seems to make sense, but just wanted to see if anyone out there feels differently.
Thanks for comments.
