    I have a client that owns a business. He wants to buy 2 acres of land, use one for a house and one to store his equipment. The property is zoned as residential, can I write off the 2nd acre that is being used for equipment storage? He builds golf courses and has quite a bit of equipment.

    Large purchased generally need to be depreciated, rather than deducted.

    Land can not be depreciated.

    So unless the one acre of land costs a very small amount that would allow a deduction, no deduction or depreciation would be allowed.
