    Estate tax

I don't prepare estate taxes and I had someone ask me if the PA inheritance tax that was paid was deductible on the federal 1041. I wasn't sure - is it?

    Thank you....

    See TTB 21-13. FORM 1041

Taxes. Deductible taxes include state and local income tax (or sales tax if allowable), real and personal property taxes, including taxes owed by decedent at death and paid by the estate, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax on income distributions.

Nondeductible taxes. Federal income tax, estate, gift and death taxes, federal duties and excise taxes are not deductible.
