    can my client claim hh this year and not claim the child as a dependent this is the year the date gets to claim the child but the child lives full time with the mom

    Head of household is exclusively for the parent who the child lives with. Its hard to understand your question, but seams the answer is no.

        As noted above - your post needs better articulation.

        If your client is the mom and the child lives with the mom and she has released the dependency to the dad, then yes - she can file HOH (this assumes of course she meets all the other criteria).

          I think the client is the"mom" and date is "dad" so yes if child lived with mother and the mother is the taxpayer in question. of course she has to meet the other qualifications.

            The date (new acceptable pronoun for dad no doubt) can claim CTC but not head of household filing status, the credit for child and dependent care expenses, dependent care benefits, the earned income credit, or the health credit. Mom (or should I say host) can claim HOH
