California form 3520 power of attorney

Does anyone know if the California Franchise Tax Board is sending out confirmation letters to the taxpayers asking if the California Power of Attorney form filed with the Franchise Tax Board is correct? In prior years they would send out a letter and ask the taxpayer if the POA was ok and the taxpayers tended to ignore the letters and the POA would fail to record. Any vcomments?

Are you talking about paperless POAs submitted online via MyFTB account?

The most recent FTB newsletter states,

"Our top 3 reasons for rejection of POA forms are:
    1. Submission errors
    2. No response from the client when we request relationship verification
    3. Electronic signature used when an original or “wet” signature is required"

You should also check the info at

which seems to answer your question: "If we are unable to verify the relationship during our initial processing, your client may receive a letter requesting they contact us to authorize the relationship."
