New Uniform Life Expectancy Table Divisors For RMD's

If I understand this correctly :
The new uniform lifetime IRA divisors seem the same for the first couple of years but then become more favorable as one ages.
The prior age divisor for a 70 year old was 27.4 and now this is the divisor for a 72 year old person.
A 80 year old person would have had a 18.7 divisor under the old table but this is now 20.2 .
Have read that possible changes being discussed to the SECURE ACT include delaying RMD's to age 75.

According to final regs, these new numbers won't apply until 2022.

It's interesting that somehow they have decided the life expectancies are increasing, when most news items report the opposite. The current pandemic is only going to further drive down life expectancy, not to mention that there are wide variations between geographic regions and racial/income groups. Most taxpayers would be better off by starting to take distributions earlier than required, spreading out the taxable impact over more years. Of course, many are unable to understand that just because one takes money out of an IRA doesn't mean one has to spend it, it can simply be reinvested, often at more favorable cap gains rates
