PTIN Fee For next tax season $35.95

User fee to apply for or renew a PTIN was published in the Federal Register (85 FR 21126). The notice proposed decreasing the amount of the user fee to apply for or renew a PTIN from $33, plus $17 payable to a third-party contractor, to $21, plus $14.95 payable to a third-party contractor.

What's the deal with 95 cents? Make it a whole dollar like everything else with taxes??

The regulations issued today are final, not proposed.

You think the 3rd party vendor should get an extra $35,000 that it's not entitled to?

No just make it a whole dollar instead of 95 cents. That all. Frankly paying a third party vendor almost 71% fee (14.95/21) is a nice billing rate for the vendor.

That would be giving the 3rd party vendor an extra $35,000 that it's not entitled to.
