    Deposit of IRS Refund Check

Does anyone know if an IRS refund or stimulus check can be deposited into the taxpayer's bank account endorsed For Deposit Only? In this case, they are out of the country and can't travel back to sign it.

That would be the bank's decision. Call them.

Two decades ago I typed up an excel spreadsheet with the deposit info for each of my bank accounts. I run the checks through the printer and the endorsement is similar to a deposit endorsement stamp stating: "for deposit only", the bank name, routing number, my name, account number, & my phone number. The banks have never questioned the lack of an actual signature, including on the rare irs refund check I've received.

Though For Deposit only is considered a “restrictive endorsement”, and as reply poster LION suggests, check with the particular bank if there any additional requirements by the bank.
