How self-Employeds Report earnings to Unemployment every week.

Two clients have asked me. " what and when do I report earnings to the unemployment department in my state". I am pretty sure you report the income as you earn it regardless of when you receive it. The other issue is do you reduce the amount you reexport by both the direct expenses for the job or both the direct and a percentage of the indirect expenses like rent, dues, publications?

It depends on the State. They all have their own rules about that. The clients should check their State's unemployment website for details.

For my State (Minnesota), yes, I think that is how it works, except I don't think Home Office expenses count.
