    Professional Society Gatherings

What's now going to happen with professional society annual gatherings this spring, summer and fall?
With greatly restricted travel, restrictions on large crowds, not having funds to pay for the programs due to the effects of CD-19, and no assurance the venues are going to even honor the reservations, how are they going to function?
One example - NAEA for years has had the NTPI program in existence that required LIVE PRESENCE at the sessions to get the education credit. What is going to happen now?

I think we need to get through spring first and see, before dragging summer and fall into it. No one has mandated any restrictions much beyond mid-April (yet), at least at the state/local level. Some medical professionals think there are specific actions that if taken now can significantly stop the spread.

California Society of EAs is offering a no-risk refund policy for registrations for their June tax super seminar, but I haven't read the details.

On a similar note, I had registered for a (non-tax-related) conference scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, including reserving two nights at a big-city hotel. Yesterday the hotel sent an automated cancelation notice, followed a few hours later by the event organizer stating it was a mistake that would be corrected by the hotel, so they are still holding out hope for sticking with end of May. And I noticed a large music festival has already just re-scheduled from Memorial Day to October.

What about having it as a Web Conference? To find what’s “going to happen now” is contact NAEA for the answer.

Think it is more important to follow what the health authorities are saying versus any CE/CPE. Individual decision.

I've contacted the VP of NAEA - and it hasn't been thought about yet.
