    guardianship income

    A person who receives guardianship income for the grandmother, no 1099 issued, made $11,000. is this income subject to SE tax and if not, where would I find written that it is not subject to SE tax?

      SE taxes apply to trades or businesses. Guardianship of a family member is not a trade or business. If a commission is reported via 1099MISC, it should be in Box 3, Other Income. Report on Line 21 even if they reported it in Box 7, Non-Employee Compensation -- which is incorrect.
