Good evening, Have a client that has 2 kids who has dividends, interest and capital gains on the 2099 Div. I thought I read but can't find it that 1 of these kids age 13 the broker sold stock of $40,000 which has a capital gain of $2500. I did the 8814 and combined it with the sale of the stock and dividend capital gain for line 3 but can't find it were the child cannot do the 8814 and she will have to file her own tax return. Can anyone tell me that I read that or it is wrong cannot combine sale of stock capital gain with the dividend capital gain.
