What do you mean by "diabetic supplies"? For example, from Pub 502: "You have diabetes and use a blood sugar test kit to monitor your blood sugar level. You can include the cost of the blood sugar test kit in your medical expenses." On the other hand, buying a bag of sugar-free cookies because of diabetes would not be a medical expense deduction."You said it, they'll never know the difference. As reply poster Lion recommends referencing TTB 4–3:
“Diagnostic devices. Cost of devices used in diagnosing and treating illness and disease, such as a blood sugar test kit for a diabetic, even without a prescription”

TheTaxBook recommends the following cross references, in case you don't have access to TheTaxBook (although I think being a customer of the owner of this forum is a condition of being a particpant).
• Schedule A (Form 1040), Itemized Deductions
• IRS Pub. 502, Medical and Dental Expenses
• IRS Pub. 554, Tax Guide for Seniors
• IRC ยง213, Medical, dental, etc., expenses
