Maryland depreciation and decoupling

    Maryland depreciation and decoupling

    I am trying to get the MD depreciation decoupling correct (and trying to match what last year's tax pro did).
    This is how I understand it:

    Limit section 179 to $25,000
    Limit section 179 to $200,000 worth of assets
    Not allow section 179 deduction for software (off the shelf), but keep it as S/L

    I was depending on this document linked below.

    I would love to hear yes or yes, but there's more or oops, you are way off base here!

    Ask your software company how to do the data entry for federal and MD depreciation rules. (You haven't given us enough information to help you.)

      My software says nothing, which is one reason why it will be my ex-software next tax season. That said, I am just looking to see what items are different between Fed and MD depreciation, I am not looking to have someone figure it out specifically for my client. Thanks.
