Can I still file 2018 tax returns electronically or must they be sent in by mail.

Your software should allow you to file three years of returns. So 2017, 2018, & 2019. No personal return can be accepted until Jan 27th for any year though -
Most professional tax prep publishers will give you a prior year software free but shut off e-file and perhaps printing. If you want to use that software for a prior year and you did not have a PPR or unlimited use license, you may have to pay a PPR fee to e-file.

Drake lets you go back 3 years and e-file. The Irs is not accepting returns again until Jan 2th.Comment
