I have a C Corp that is wanting to convert to an S-Corp. Since the S-Corp has to be a calendar year end, do we go ahead and file the 2553 by the March 15th deadline and file a short year 1120 (5/1/19 - 12/31/19) for our client. Can't really find any guidance on this - most examples are calendar year to calendar year conversions.

Yes, have looked at both of those pages, requires the S-Corp to have a calendar year. My problem is with the existing C-Corp, my thinking is we have to prepare a short year C-Corp return from 5/1/19 - 12/31/19. Just can't find an example of this because most examples deal with calendar year S-Corps and C-Corps or new S-Corps that are formed during the year from scratch.
