    CAF# for Power of Attorney

I had only one time that I submitted a Form 2848 and received a CAF number from the IRS years ago. I never had a reason to submit another POA form. I now want to submit a POA form for a client. When listing my info under the Representatives area, do I list that CAF number that I received years ago, or do they assign another one seeing it is for another client? After reading some info on CAF numbers, I think I just enter that old CAF number. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Something similar happened to me while I was on the phone with the IRS. The rep told me "use the CAF if you have it". I also know many people who have had multiple CAF's issued in their name. I understand the CAF system is for simplicity but I wonder if it ever is "required" you maintain the same number.
