1040-SR draft

Discrimination! Everyone should be able to use the larger print version! I'm not 65 yet, but have a magnifying glass on my desk to read some small print.

So, help me out here.
What determines when it is "appropriate" to file the Form 1040-SR instead of the Form 1040?? Is the choice optional?
(I must be missing something, other than the larger print.)

You're not missing anything. It's a political stunt just like the postcard was. Filing would not be any different as line numbers and info is exactly the same. I find it more readable, and definitely a better choice for people who hand write to paper file.

I'm guessing it will depend on software. When we had A and EZ i would enter on my screen as if it was regular 1040. Then I had printing set up to print shortest form available.

I always use the regular 1040 only, so will continue to do so.
