    Qdro

I have a client who is getting divorced and has a 401K from his job since 15 years of marriage. He wants me to prepare allocation of his 401K plan that his attorney needs showing the split of his 401K between himself and the ex-spouse for QDRO. Does anyone has any suggestions if there is a spreadsheet available or how to find one. Thanks

Usually the attorney writes up the QDRO for the plan administrator to do the split into the two separate accounts. After the parties agree on the division and a judge finalizes the divorce. Your client can check online or look at his last statement to see the current balance. The split is usually denoted as a percentage. If he needs a dollar amount instead, to balance out the division of assets or whatever, surely he can do the subtraction himself. (If you do this, charge the same hourly rate as his attorney!!)
