    College student an EIC

Parents claimed student in 2017 because was a HS student then went to college in the Fall. Now 2018 student received tons of scholarships and grants and actually has taxable scholarships and worked on top of that. So student is claiming herself. Parents... Dad got injured and hasn't been working so income dropped significantly and would get EIC if I leave the student on just as a student between ages 19-22 but not claim student as a dependent. So my question is.... can they still get EIC for the college student even tho not claiming her because she is supporting herself more than half. ???

For EIC purpose you have to satisfy the Relationship, age, residency test and not the support test so if the other three are satisfied then I say yes!
