    Moving because of Medical Condition

    Got a weird one today.

Family said they have to move from IL to FL because their son had a medical condition due to the temperature fluctuations.

She was asking about a moving expenses deduction because of his condition?

--I have always thought moving expense was just for a job... now its just for military, so that a no correct?

--Any Sch A deduction? Not that it would help, they are $18000 from making any difference to medical expenses?

Thoughts/Ideas? Did TP just make this one up???

    Thanks

    Chris

No deduction for moving, but if the taxpayers owned a home and did not meet the 2-out-of-5 year rule, the medical condition could possibly qualify them for the partial $250,000/$500,000 home exclusion.

See page 4-4 of the Tax Book. bottom of left column. Could travel by a U-haul truck be acceptable? Does not say travel has to be two ways, however I think most of us think of it that way.
