    2 rooms rented in home

    Client rents 2 rooms in home. One for entire year of 2018, the other for 9 months of 2018. Tenants have no use of any area other than bedroom and their own bathroom. Divided home expenses based on square footage last year. This year how do I handle this with a second room rented mid year. Do I report on two different Sched E or can I combine and take full year of depreciation for both rooms?

    Unless the second room was available for rent all year, that room can't be considered a rental for the entire year.

    I would treat it as two separate rentals.

      Just found out it was available for rent on January 1, so can consider entire year. Thanks
