    If I give my brother a car as a gift, can I write off the value?

      No but if it is worth over $14,000 you get the pleasure of paying tax on your gift.

              You need to start with the basics first. That is, in order for a charitable deduction, the organization has to be a QUALIFIED charitable organization.

                  15K for 2018, and tax likely not due. Just need to file return.
