Ok, I see your point now the $10k is indeed a wash , provided of course they agree to the per diem accountable plan. I guess I was hung up on out of pocket expenses not the bottom line tax consequence. Technically though this is going to be processed as a wage decrease even though the end result is to maintain the same tax bill. Might be a hard sell
