    Does rental real estate property activity count as a BUSINESS for the QBI deduction? (Client is employed and has two rental houses)

    Answer = unknown

    There are split opinions on this issue but we await formal IRS guidance

      Although I had originally leaned towards "no", many Continuing Educational Providers have been asserting that rental do qualify (and I have no idea why they assert it, when it seems unaddressed to me).

      As NYEA said, hopefully the IRS will release some solid guidance about the matter.
