    efiling a 2016 return

    Can a 2016 individual return be efiled now? I had filed an extension, but am just now wanting to file.

      Yes. Current year plus two prior years can be efiled per the IRS. Most states comply. But, you'll want to check on the states you need plus your software.

          I have efiled a bunch of 2015 and 2016 this year. VA has no problems with them.
