AirBnb client who has filed Sche C for several years, only rented out 9 days last year. It is my understanding it is not reported as taxable income nor are expenses deducted. One site says to input rental income on Line 21, then back it out with a negative input. How does this help since then Line 21 will show nothing? Will it match to 1099 using this method?

Even though Line 21 shows zero, the two entries still are submitted with the e-file (assuming you don't paper-file), so the IRS will still 'see' it.Comment
