    Form 8962 ACA question

Taxpayer and Spouse got a 1095-A from their insurance marketplace listing both of them on the 1095-A. Form 8962 will go with their 1040 to reconcile the advanced premium. Should the 1040 have two 8962's, one for each of them? Or just one 8962 representing them both. thanks for any help you can give.

Assuming it is a Joint tax return, there will only be one 8962.

If you have any followup questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you TaxGuy. The reason I ask is becasue the joint return was filed with one 8962. The Spouse just got a letter from HMS saying to get the 8962 filed or they will not be able to go on the exchange for 2018. it is possible that the letter went out before the return was processed. The Efile acceptance date was March 1 and the letter from HMS is dated March 2.

Are you saying the 2016 tax return was filed late (this month)? If so, yes, that is why, and the Marketplace letter can be ignored.

If the 2016 tax return was filed before that, the taxpayer may want to respond to the Marketplace letter to get some clarification.
