    Lifetime Learning Credit for Dependent

TP is claiming child as dependent for the last year, since he was a student at least five months (graduated in Spring 2017.) In the fall, he entered a graduate program for his Master's. Who gets to claim the credit for tuition paid? Child or parent claiming him?

I think I found it. Appears either can claim, but not both. There are expenses for the last semester of regular college (already claimed 4 years AOC) and for the fall semester as well. Agree?

I believe that if parents qualify to claim dependency two things can happen:

      1) Parents claims dependent and lifetime, or
      2) Student can claim lifetime but no one gets the dependent exemption.
