Here is the situation - 2 people live together - they have 2 children together - mother does not work, but in addition to her 2 children she has 2 foster children for which the state giver her money tax free to support the children. Can her liver in boyfriend claim her on his taxes. He provides more then 1/2 of her support. I realize that he claim his biological children and he cannot claim the foster children, but can he claim his girl friend. Thank you

The GF must live with you all year as a member of your household and her gross income for the year must be less than $4,050.
Also you must provide more than half of the GF's total support for the year.
Time to add up all her bills?
Generally I have found that many of these situations involve a disabled GF/BF collecting SS or SSI. Some even have under the table cash income!Taxes after all are the dues that we pay for the privileges of membership in an organized society. - FDR
