    2018 cap on state and local tax deductions

    will the new $ 10,000 limit on taxes when itemizing in the 2018 tax year, include both property taxes and state income taxes or does this cap just pertain to property taxes ?

      Both. I'd expect to see a total line with the limit on Sch A.

          It applies to the entire Tax section of Sch A. The 10,000 cap applies to Real Estate TAxes, Income Taxes, Sales Tax, ALL TAXES lumped together. This will effect many middle class taxpayers.
