    Prudential - Early WD Exception?

Trying to research the early withdrawal exception for unreimbursed medical expense as it relates to a Prudential annuity. The 1099-R shows Box 1 and Box 2a at $7,500 and Box 7 with a '1'. I initially thought that the early withdrawal exception only applied to IRAs, not 401k or annuities. Looking for clarification... I'll keep researching but thought I would throw it out here on the forum as well.

I have a Prudential annuity and it IS an IRA. If Boxes 1 and 2a are the same amount, then yours probably is too. A tax-deferred annuity (non-qualified) would have non-taxable basis, and Box 2a would be less than Box 1. Have TP check with agent to see, if he does not know the difference.
