    Does the IRS show mercy?

    Sad case of lost job, disease (not terminal), and cashing in all $103,000 of their life savings before 59-1/2. Also have been renting the same house for 20 years and have to move. Years ago I wrote a letter to the IRS, and they waved the 10% penalty.
    Has anyone ever had the IRS show an act of mercy? Do you think I am just wasting my time?

    You state that in the past you had success with your letter request. The only way that you will find out if your successful again is write your letter and send in with necessary information.

      I couldn't have said it better unless to say the worst they can say is NO.
