    Starting payroll

A client (LLC) is going to start having employees in the fall and has asked for my help. I know they need to register with the state (WI). The client already has a FEIN. Do they need to register or somehow let the IRS know they will have payroll? In the past I've set up payroll when the company was set up.

The IRS is notified by filing a form 941 reporting the quarterly payroll. You can also call the IRS and request the coupons needed to make payroll tax deposits at the bank.

You might want to consider EFTPS for tax payments.

        Agree with OLD JACK
File proper 941 reports and make deposits and IRS will get the point.
